Madison Park Real Estate | An Area with Great Atmosphere

As a unique and close-knit community, Madison Park is the perfect place to find a great balance between city living and a small-town atmosphere on the Seattle real estate market. With Union Bay to the north, Lake Washington to the east and the Washington Park Arboretum to the west, the Madison Park real estate market is situated in a beautiful and quiet area of the city. Offering easy access to Seattle's many amenities and with plenty of great features located directly within the community, Madison Park real estate has proved very attractive to Seattle homebuyers.

For the history buff, back at the turn of the century (1870’s -1910), Madison Park was actually an area of Summer Homes, with some being floating homes, for the wealthy that lived on Capitol Hill. Then in 1911 Seattle built the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks that would connect Lake Washington and Lake Union to Puget Sound. The water level of Lake Washington needed to be lowered to accomplish this leaving the floating homes on dry land mostly all on what is now 42nd Ave East. There are a couple of these original homes still there but most have been torn down with new homes built on the land in the past 20 years.

As one of the more affluent neighborhoods on the Seattle real estate market, Madison Park's housing prices tend to be somewhat pricier than other communities in the city. However, those who own Madison Park real estate know that it's worth paying higher prices to live in such a fabulous neighborhood. Housing styles in the area range from historic bungalows and beach houses to large Tudor-style homes and new constructions. With the impressive architecture, beautiful landscaping and tree-lined streets, this region of the Seattle real estate market is very aesthetically appealing. The interiors of the homes are also very attractive, with highly sought-after features such as hardwood floors and vintage architectural details.

With most of the homes in the community located next to or near Madison Park Beach, owners of Madison Park real estate can enjoy a vacation-like atmosphere on a regular basis. Popular with swimmers and sunbathers, Madison Park Beach also features tennis courts and a children's playground. This area of the Seattle real estate market also features a unique shopping district with a wide variety of specialty shops and popular restaurants. With friendly neighbors in addition to the beautiful homes and stunning location, it's not surprising that Madison Park real estate is so popular among Seattle house hunters.
